Long-running tasks are where remote workflows either earn trust or lose it.

This guide summarizes a low-drama operating routine.

Use one session per workstream

Avoid mixing unrelated tasks into a single terminal timeline.

Benefits:

  • clearer task history,
  • easier reconnect reasoning,
  • cleaner follow-up actions.

Treat Start as a state transition

Before tapping Start, verify current runtime status.

If a task is already active, issuing Start again may create noisy duplicate behavior. Guarded start behavior exists to reduce that risk, but operator discipline still helps.

Reconnect intentionally

After app foreground return or network interruption:

  1. confirm session context,
  2. refresh state,
  3. continue monitoring before issuing new commands.

Do not assume empty output means idle runtime.

Notification hygiene

Completion notifications are useful only when they are trusted.

  • Keep notification permissions enabled.
  • Validate your hook/transport path once after setup.
  • Use notifications as signal, then verify final terminal state.
  • Start task.
  • Let it run.
  • Periodically review terminal state.
  • On completion notification, reopen and verify output.
  • Capture next action in the same session for continuity.

This pattern keeps long tasks predictable without constant foreground babysitting.
