Tactic Remote 1.6.6: Session-Aware Notifications and Live Activity Cleanup

1.6.6 is the kind of update that looks small from the outside but actually repairs part of the workflow skeleton.

The visible headline is notifications and Live Activity. The deeper change is that the system is now better at returning you to the right decision point after an event happens.

Notification Taps Now Return to the Right Server and Session

The old pain point was not the total absence of notifications. It was that notifications often arrived without enough context.

That gets especially obvious in multi-session work. You may be looking at session A while session B finishes or asks a follow-up question. If tapping the alert only returns you to the currently active screen, you still have to reconstruct which session actually emitted the event.

1.6.6 closes that gap:

• server-side notification broadcasts now carry session identity
• notification taps route by server + session
• iPhone, iPad, and Mac now aim for the same navigation semantics

The result is that notifications stop acting like generic "open the app" reminders and start acting like "return to this specific piece of work" entry points.

Cold-Start Deep Links Are More Reliable

Foreground routing is the easy path. Cold start is where systems usually break.

At cold start, the app may not have restored its full state yet. The server list may still be loading, local object identifiers may not match push-side identities, and navigation may fire too early.

This release hardens that path. If the app launches from a terminated state via push, the deep link is now much more likely to resolve to the right server and then the right session.

That is not flashy UI work. It is the difference between a notification being truly actionable and merely looking supported.

Push Delivery Is More Resilient on Weak Networks

Another part of this update is delivery hardening itself.

The server now retries transient network failures, which matters on tethering, unstable Wi-Fi, and other real mobile conditions. Session metadata is also carried more consistently across the pipeline, which is what allows the notification system to distinguish between two sessions in the same project.

Put simply:

• notifications are no longer optimized only for "send something"
• they are now optimized for "send the right thing, route it correctly, and bring the user back to the right place"

Live Activity Cleanup Is Better, but We Are Not Pretending It Is Perfect

1.6.6 also rewrites the Live Activity cleanup path.

That includes:

• reconciling stale activities on launch
• clearing orphan references
• reducing false "Finished" states after temporary disconnects
• making state recovery more stable after re-entering the app

The goal is not to make Live Activity feel busier. The goal is to make it lie less on abnormal paths.

One edge case still remains: if the iOS app is force-quit, a Live Activity can still remain visible until relaunch or system timeout. That path is better than before, but we are not calling it fully solved.

Small Mac Setup Polish

Outside the notification and Live Activity work, the Mac setup flow also got a smaller quality-of-life improvement: the "Check Again" step is simpler and now includes a skip option.

What This Update Really Improves

If you use Tactic Remote by:

• running multiple Claude sessions in parallel
• not constantly watching your Mac
• relying on notifications to decide when to come back

then 1.6.6 changes something practical: you spend less time reconstructing context and more time acting on it.

The shortest summary of this release is:

notifications have moved from "something happened" toward "this is what you should return to now."
