Why We Renamed Claude Remote to Tactic Remote

Today we are formally renaming Claude Remote to Tactic Remote.

This post explains why we made the change, what it means for existing users, and how we are thinking about the product going forward.

What happened

We received a request from the relevant party asking us to change the product name.

We have strong views about third-party developer tools, ecosystem participation, and the legitimacy of independent companion products. We already published our public response to the complaint itself. But in parallel, we also had to make a practical product decision.

That practical decision is this:

• the product will continue
• the team will continue
• the community will continue
• the name will change from Claude Remote to Tactic Remote

We chose to make the rename because we do not want users, contributors, or future partners to operate under prolonged naming uncertainty.

Why we chose to rename instead of shutting down

The important thing for us is not preserving a specific string forever. The important thing is preserving the product, the workflow, and the community around it.

People use this app every day to:

• monitor long-running agent tasks from iPhone
• approve actions away from their desks
• stay connected to coding sessions while commuting, traveling, or in meetings
• keep development moving without being trapped at a terminal

We are not interested in abandoning that value just because the branding layer has to change.

So our decision was straightforward: rename the product, reduce confusion, and keep building.

What is changing

The following are changing:

• the public product name
• the website branding
• parts of the documentation and product copy
• future releases, announcements, and marketing language

From now on, the current product name is Tactic Remote.

What is not changing

The following are not changing:

• the core team behind the project
• the product direction
• our commitment to users and contributors
• the companion workflow we built for remote agent supervision

If you have been using Claude Remote, you are not being left behind. This is the same product line, under a new name.

Historical release notes, old screenshots, legacy download names, and past articles may still reference Claude Remote. That is expected. Those references describe real historical versions and we do not want to rewrite product history in a misleading way.

Our commitment to the community

We want to say this plainly:

We are not walking away from the community that got us here.

Every bug report, feature request, TestFlight install, GitHub issue, and recommendation helped shape this project. The rename does not reduce how seriously we take that responsibility.

If anything, it makes our priorities clearer:

• keep the product alive
• keep it useful
• keep improving the remote workflow
• keep listening to the people actually using it

Beyond Claude Code

The rename also matches where the product is going.

Claude Remote originally started around a very specific workflow: remote supervision for Claude Code sessions. That remains an important use case, and we will continue supporting it.

But the broader opportunity is bigger than one model or one agent runtime.

We increasingly see Tactic Remote as a mobile control and monitoring layer for modern agent workflows in general:

• long-running coding agents
• approval-driven execution loops
• remote session monitoring
• mobile-first human-in-the-loop control

That means support will expand beyond Claude Code where it makes sense.

The most immediate example is that the latest version already supports Codex.

What to expect next

In the near term, you will see:

• website copy updated to Tactic Remote
• a gradual cleanup of non-historical documentation
• historical posts retained as historical records where appropriate
• broader messaging around multi-agent and multi-runtime support

This transition will not happen perfectly in one day. You may still see older references in changelogs, screenshots, download artifacts, and legacy URLs for a while.

That is normal during a rename. We will clean up what should be current, and preserve what should remain historical.
