Server: Custom Node.js WebSocket server running on your Mac. Single dependency (ws package). Manages Claude Code through tmux sessions.

Tactic Remote has two connection modes integrated directly into the Mac app. LAN mode requires zero configuration — Bonjour discovers the server automatically. Cloudflare Tunnel mode is managed through the Mac app's UI with one toggle.

Tactic Remote's session management is built around tmux. Each session is a separate tmux session with its own working directory and Claude Code instance. Tactic Remote's terminal renderer parses ANSI escape sequences including the full 256-color palette and 24-bit RGB colors. The keyboard toolbar provides direct buttons for the most common operations when interacting with Claude Code — particularly the Y/N buttons for approval workflows.

Tactic Remote uses multi-stage state hydration — when you reconnect, it refreshes the terminal state at three intervals (0.2s, 0.7s, 1.5s) to progressively capture the current output. The heartbeat system detects connection loss with a 2-miss tolerance before triggering reconnection.
